LUIGI PICARDI , Guitarist and Music Historian

Born in Rome in 1970, began studying the guitar at the age of 15 years and graduated brilliantly from the 'Santa Cecilia di Roma' Conservatory under the guidance of Maestro Carlo Carfagna. Subsequently he took part in numerous seminars and specialization courses in Italy and Spain, with internationally renowned masters such as Roberto Masala, Armando Marrosu, Jose Thomas, Bruno Battisti D'Amario, David Tanenbaum, David Russell, Lamberto Cardellini and Carlos Bonell; he followed ancient and baroque music courses held by Rosario Cicero and Mario D'Agosto.

He is also awarded in various national and international competitions.

He has performed as a soloist and in chamber ensembles (Guitar duo; Flute and guitar duo, Violin and guitar duo with Paolo Perrone; Cluster Ensemble directed by Marco Angius) for numerous Italian musical associations.

He also actively collaborated with the Music Bibliographic Institute directed by the well-known musicologist Giancarlo Rostirolla at the National Central Library of Rome.

Dal 1999 he is part of the staff of the Musical Programs of Vatican Radio, where he takes care of the nightly program 'Con voi nella Notte' and hosts the Sunday program 'L'Arpeggio'. He also acts as Musical Assistant at the Sala Assunta of the pontifical broadcaster, as well as for the various events that take place at the Holy See.

At the same time he works as a sound engineer and musical assistant in collaboration with Rino D'Anna's Green Studio in Rome., with whom he recorded the CD 'Le Quattro Stagioni' by Antonio Vivaldi, with Grazia Raimondi, solo violin and the Ensemble 'Musici Aurei' directed by Luigi Piovano, released by the French label Eloquentia, enthusiastically reviewed by the international press, and receiving the maximum rating from the critic David Vernier on “Classics Today”..

In the 2019 he founded with guitarist Felicia Toscano, the ConTemporary Duo performing in concert in Washington D.C. in the USA and at International Guitar Festivals.
